Gurdaspur (Punjab), May 20: Twentysix bomb shells, mostly empty, were today recovered from a school here during the course of laying of sewerage pipe, police said.
The shells were recovered from the school which is situated near Army cantonment and residence of Deputy Commissioner, they said.
The work to lay the sewerage pipe was in progress when labourers found a few bomb shells and they tried to extract brass from these, police said.
A police party reached the spot and cordoned the whole area and sand bags were stacked around the bomb shells as precautionary measure on suspicion that some of them might be live.
An army bomb disposal squad from Amritsar later took all the shells in its possession, police said.
