24 YO Fayaz wins 24 Crore Abu Dhabi’s Jackpot in online raffle

Mangaluru: Becoming a millionaire is a dream come true for this 24-year-old bookkeeper from Dakshina Kannada village after he won a lottery at the Abu Dhabi.

This young man a commerce graduate surprisingly dreamt he has actually won the jackpot the night ahead of the draw in Abu Dhabi big ticket raffle.

To his shock, the next day the organisers called him at work to inform him he had won 12 million UAE dirhams (about Rs 23 crore).

An elated Mohammed Fayaz JA, from Jattipala in Sullia never had the chance to visit Dubai.

“I got a passport, but things didn’t go as planned, and I took a job as an accountant in Mumbai a year ago,” Fayaz told in his interview.

“I’d tried my luck six times, buying Gulf lottery tickets online. This time, I had a feeling I’d win enough to cover the ticket price — Rs 9,600,” fayaz said adding he bought the ticket in September.

When asked what does he plan to do with the jackpot money, he simply replied hope to help his MBA brother who currently drives a truck.

No plans on quitting this job

“This job has been lucky for me,” Fayaz said, adding that “I lost my parents to kidney disease. After that, a relative offered me an accountant’s job in the company he worked with.”

“My father toiled for a long time in Saudi Arabia,” said Fayaz, who has an older brother and sister and a younger sister doing PU.

“We are still recovering from the shock of losing our parents in quick succession. We sold part of our land to build a house, which is still incomplete.”

Speaking of his brother, Fayaz said: “My brother, an MBA graduate, drives a fish truck for a living. I hope to help him now, complete house construction and buy back our land.”
