Ahmedabad: Renouncing fortunes worth of crores of rupees is not we usually hear of, but recently a successful Chartered Accountant from a very prosperous family renounced his fortune and dedicated himself to the Jain Community.
Meet the 24-year-old Mokshesh Sheth whose family owns JK Corporation which deals in Diamonds, metal and sugar industries, quite a large business, has decided to give up this worldly materialistic life and become a Jain monk.
The procession of his conversion would be held at Tapovan Circle on the Gandhinagar- Ahmedabad road today.
Mokshesh, eldest among the three in the family, had always maintained a good academic record. He scored 93.38 % in Class 10 while 85% in intermediate. Says Mokshesh he always craved for inner peace.
“I was about 15 when I first thought of becoming a Jain monk. I craved internal peace which the material world would not have provided,” and hence finally took a decision to become one says Mokshesh.
Belonging to a family that hails from Gujarat’s Deesa, Moskshesh’ family had shifted to Mumbai 60 years back. His father Sandeep and uncle Girish Sheth still believe in joint family like the old times.
Before joining his family’s metal business, Mokshesh had completed his commerce graduation from HR College for graduation and later went on to pursue Chartered Accountancy.
“Mokshesh was always spiritually inclined and first expressed his wish to become a monk some eight years ago. However, we convinced him to complete his education and experience the world first. In the 200-year-old history of our family, Mokshesh would be the first man to embrace monkhood even though five women have become Jain sadhvis,” said Girish Sheth, Mokshesh’s uncle.
