Hyderabad, May 05: Two auto drivers allegedly raped a 23-year-old B Ed student on the outskirts of Mazeethpur village near Shamirpet on Tuesday night.
The girl, a resident of Aliyabad, is a B Ed first year student at a college in Secunderabad. As her classes went on till late in the evening, she got into a city bus in Secunderabad at around 10 pm to go to Aliyabad. However, she had to disembark at Thumkunta village, nearly seven kms from her village, as the bus service terminated there, Shamirpet inspector Narender Reddy told TOI.
As she was waiting at the bus stand, an auto came there after five minutes. The auto driver started yelling `Aliyabad, Aliyabad’. As another person was along with the driver, she did not get into the vehicle. With the auto driver claiming that his was the last auto on that route, she got into the three-wheeler.
After travelling some distance, the driver took a diversion. When the girl questioned why he was taking a different route, he claimed he would pick up a few workers at a company. The girl believed his words and kept calm. As soon as the auto reached a forest area, the two dragged her into bushes and raped her at around 10.30 pm, the inspector said.
To prevent her from raising an alarm, they gagged her. After committing the crime, the duo snatched the girl’s mobile phone and fled in the auto, the police officer said.
The girl, who was semi-nude, reached Rajiv Rahdari (Karimnagar-Ramagundam road) by walk and stood on the road. Meantime, a person noticed the girl and enquired with her. The girl narrated the incident to him. She took his mobile phone and alerted her parents and police.
“We sent a patrolling party and brought her to the police station. Her parents also reached the station with some clothes,” the inspector said.
According to a complaint lodged by the victim, the two persons, who were in an inebriated condition, raped her in the forest area. She also stated in the complaint that they took her mobile phone and abandoned her in the forest area.
“We picked up 10 persons and are interrogating them. We shifted the victim to the Gandhi Hospital for medical tests,” he added.
Police registered a case under section 376-G (Gang rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
