New Delhi: A 23-year-old man was found hanging at his girlfriend’s flat in Dwarka even as his family alleged he was killed by his girlfriend and her ex-boyfriend and that they had tried to show it as “suicide”.
Arnav Duggal had gone out to party with his friends, including his girlfriend, on June 12. They partied till the wee hours on June 13 and dropped his girlfriend at her flat in Dwarka and left for his home in Patel Nagar, his girlfriend told police.
After a few minutes, he returned to her home and said that was not feeling good and she asked him to stay over at her place. They went to sleep in separate rooms and after she woke up, she went to check on him and found him hanging with a ceiling fan, the police said.
Police were informed around 3 PM about the incident and sent the body for post-mortem. No suicide note was found from the spot, they added.
A forensic team visited the room and collected samples.
Police have seized Arnav’s phone and it will be sent for forensic examination and call records will be examined, said a senior police officer.
His friends will be questioned to ascertain whether Arnav had displayed any suicidal tendencies.
Arnav and his girlfriend worked with the same MNC in Gurgaon.
His family members have started an online petition demanding justice for him. They have alleged that he was killed by his girlfriend and her ex-boyfriend.
They also alleged that his girlfriend did not inform them about Arnav’s death. It was only after they received a call from the police that they got to know about his death.
Arnav’s father met P Kamraj, special commissioner of police (Law and Order), South, to demand a fair probe in the matter.
The body has been preserved at the AIIMS mortuary and an autopsy will be carried out there, said a senior police officer.
