Karachi, April 12 (ANI): At least 216 women were burnt alive in Pakistan last year, the founder of the Madadgaar National Helpline, Zia Ahmed Awan, has claimed.
Awan told mediapersons here this week that these alarming statistics were just the tip of the iceberg, and added that the actual number of such cases is higher.
He blamed these incidents on improper law enforcing mechanisms.
He appealed to the government to take appropriate and corrective action, and provide adequate legal and medical aid to both the families of the victims and survivors. (ANI)
