21 B.Tech students of Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology have been suspended by Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for allegedly using fraudulent means to secure admission into engineering courses.
In an office memo issued on Tuesday, university’s Proctor Khursheed A. Khan, stated that the fraud was brought to light by a committee constituted by the vice chancellor to oversee admissions to B. Tech course for 2011-2012. The committee discovered forgery, cheating, misrepresentation and concealment of fact on part of the students. Besides producing forged documents to secure admission the students committed different acts of indiscipline and misconduct specified under AMU Students’ Conduct and Discipline Rules, 1985.
A probe has been ordered into the matter and the students had been placed under suspension till completion of probe.
