21 child labourers rescued

New Delhi: A group of 21 child labourers was today rescued from the premises of three commercial establishments in Nihal Vihar and Kavita Colony area, officials said.

Raids were conducted by west district administration this morning in a shoe factory, garment unit and plastic appliances factory leading to the rescue of the child labourers, Awanish Kumar, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Punjabi Bagh) said, adding that the youngest child that was rescued was found to be 8 years old.

According to officials, the rescued children hail from different districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Yesterday, a similar raid was conducted in Rajouri Garden by Virender Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, during which two bonded labourers were rescued — a girl of 18 years from Assam and a 19-year-old boy from Jharkhand.
