2011 WC topples ’07 edition in terms of TV ratings

New Delhi, April 06: The just-concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 tuned out to be a widely-viewed event as it delivered 69 per cent more ratings as compared to the 2007 edition in the Caribbean.

The 2011 World Cup has generated an average TV rating of 4.2 (only on ESPN STAR) and 4.9 (on the combined network of ESS and DD), compared to an average TV rating of 2.5 (Set Max) and 2.7 (Set Max + Doordarshan) in the Caribbean four years ago.

The summit clash of the just-concluded mega-event between India and Sri Lanka also registered a record viewership rating of 27.2 (ESS+DD) — the match rating 22.0 on ESS and 5.1 on DD.

The India-SL final saw a peak rating of 41.2 (ESS+DD) with a peak ratings of 32.9 only on ESS.
