2000 investors heading to Palestine

Gaza, May 31: Palestinians are preparing for the second Palestine Investment Conference (PIC) 2010, which kicks off in Beth Lahm (Bethlehem) on Wednesday.

The organizers say 125 projects will be presented to investors.

Of the 2,000 investors scheduled to attend the conference, 1,100 are Arabs, of which 850 are originally Palestinian, Palestinian Authority (PA) Minister of National Economy Hasan abu Libdeh said on Sunday.

He went on to say that there are big and medium size projects, giving investors an opportunity to “build relations” with businessmen.

Each project’s feasibility will be discussed during PIC, Abu Libdeh told the Maan news agency on Sunday.

The projects cover all sectors, he said, but gave no more details.

While “we were satisfied with the level of Israeli response, there still remain a number of requests remaining unapproved,” he added.

“The ball is in the investors’ court, particularly as small projects formulated by the private sector will be presented,” Abu Libdeh said.
