Dubai, February 13: The department of Islamic Affairs in Dubai has recently concluded an intensive course on the art of preaching and speech-making at its headquarters in Al Mamzar area.
The fourth edition of the programme, which spanned five three-hour lectures as well as practical training, is part of the department’s effort to develop the awareness of staff imams and preachers to best accomplish their duties.
Jordanian scholar Saleh Taha Abdulwahed, who has an experience of more than 30 years in preaching delivered the lectures. Mohammed Suheil Al Muhairi, Head of Guidance and Preaching Section said that the three-day course saw the participation of 200 imams, including new orators and staff employees concerned. Nearly 50 individuals from the public were also present.
“We also want to draw attendees’ attention to the most common mistakes they may make, train them on how to prepare a Friday sermon, and shed light on the differences between an orator and a lecturer in terms of presentation.” The department is organising a similar course for young preachers. It will conclude by March.
