Abu Dhabi, June 20: Sahem, a community police campaign to raise awareness of members of the public about the risks of harbouring and sheltering breakers of immigration laws, has received more than 200 reports from June 6 to June 21 on its toll free line 80080,a senior security official has disclosed.
Major Nasser Al Menhali, acting Ministry of Interior Undersecretary for Naturalisation, residence and Exits Affairs, said the drive which concluded on Friday was jointly organised by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Abu Dhabi Media Company and civil organisations.
“The campaign has achieved its objectives of increasing public awareness against the threats of infiltrators and violators to security and stability of the community,’’he added. He warned members of the community against dealing with these “outlaw’’ categories, emphasising that inspectors will nab them.
Saeed Al Hamli, Director of Abu Dhabi Department of Transport said public buses carry about 100,000 commuters a day, providing an ideal platform to educate the passengers about the objective of the campaign.
