Muzaffarnagar: Nearly 200 cartons of liquor allegedly meant for voters during the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections was seized in a checking drive at the Karnal highway here, police said today.
The liquor was being smuggled in a tractor-trolley to the Sardhana Assembly constituency in Meerut from Haryana last evening, they said, adding two persons have been detained.
The drive was being conducted under Jhinjhana police station area in Shamli district, police said, adding 200 cartons were seized.
The destination of the smuggled liquor was revealed by the detained persons during interrogation, they added.
