Vadodara: A sessions court sentenced two auto drivers to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for gang-raping a married woman.
The rape survivor, a 25-year-old woman from Mumbai was picked up from outside the railway station at Sayajigunj by the two accused.
She had eloped from her home and reached Vadodara in December 2016 and bought a bus ticket for Surendranagar and was begging for money outside the railway station when the two accused identified as Kevat and Pathan kidnapped her.
They took her to a house in Navayard and raped her multiple times and later dropped her outside the central bus station the next morning.
The rape victim was then rescued by 181 Abhayam helpline and taken to a hospital.
The cops registered a gangrape case against the duo at Sayajigunj police station and later filed a chargesheet after they acquired the CCTV footage which proved their crime.
The additional sessions judge M K Chauhan upheld the medical and forensic evidence submitted by the additional public prosecutor S K Trivedi against the duo.
