Sara Iftekhar, a 20-year-old Muslim woman is set to become the first to wear a hijab in the Miss England finals. She will walk on the ramp in the headscarf this week, hoping to get the crown.
Though women have worn the hijab in qualifying rounds of the event, Sara is the first to wear it for a final.
The University of Huddersfield law student is set to take the stage in Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire where she will go up against 49 other plucky hopefuls
She said she is taking part in the competition to “show beauty doesn’t have a definition. Everyone is beautiful in his or her own ways, regardless of their weight, race, colour or shape.”
