Tehran, March 06: Iranian courts have upheld a death sentence for a 20-year-old university student who participated in public demonstrations, the U.S. Department of State said Friday.
Mohammad Amin Valian confessed to have thrown stones during the December 27 Ashura demonstrations, and he was found guilty of ‘warring against God’ as he was sentenced to death.
This has caused great concern for the U.S., urging the release of Valian and all political prisoners.
Valian’s death sentence would be the first execution after the election.
