20 tolas of gold worth Rs.6 lakh were seized

20 tolas of gold ornaments worth Rs 6 lakh were seized from a gang of two members by the Banjara Hills police on Monday. They are in connection with a number of theft cases reported in the city in the last two years.

As per Additional DCP West KR Nagaraju, “They target lonely women on the roads and divert their attention by throwing some fake gold biscuits on the ground to get away with cash, gold, handbags and other material.“

The accused were identified as Madhukar Rani alias Shyamala, 40year-old, and Bhandari Chittari, 30year-old. Both of them are dwellers of Borabanda, were involved in as many as seven cases registered in various police stations and also served jail terms.The accused were produced in the court and remanded to judicial custody.
