20 arrested for vehicle theft in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: Twenty people have been arrested from three different places in the district for allegedly stealing vehicles, police said today.

The police have recovered 30 stolen vehicles, including two-wheelers, and seized fire arms from them, they said.

Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar said 11 people were arrested from Labour Chowk in Vijay Nagar last night. Two country-made pistols, five knives and three master keys were seized from them.

During interrogation they confessed stealing vehicles parked in forlorn streets and downtown areas of the district.

After getting information from them, 26 mobile phones, a laptop computer, 18 two-wheelers were recovered, he said.

In a separate incident, police seized two country-made pistols, 4 live cartridges and knives from 7 persons during checking at Holy Child School intersection in Sihani Gate Police Stations limits.

The seven confessed to be the members of a gang involved in vehicle theft. Seven cars, three motorbikes were seized from them.

In the third incident, two persons were arrested with two stolen cars by Bhojpur town police. One country-made pistol and one unused bullet have also been recovered, the SSP added.
