Hyderabad, September 26: All hopes of the mother of a two-year-old to see her girl educated in the best English medium school in town got crushed under the wheels of a private school bus at Rambagh in Attapur today. The girl, S Jahnavi, was run over by a bus when she was playing on the road resulting in her instant death.
According to police, around 9 a.m. Jahnavi had her breakfast and went to her uncle’s place right across the road in Rambagh. She was playing outside the house when the school bus, which was backing up, ran over her. Soon after the accident, the driver of the bus abandoned the vehicle and fled the area. It’s almost a daily routine for Jahnavi to visit her uncle’s house after breakfast, police said. The girl’s father, who hails from Karnataka, is a daily wager in a hotel in Attapur while her mother Ambika is a home maker.
The police seized the vehicle (AP 29 T 7240) and launched a hunt for the driver.
“The driver was driving recklessly and this led to the mishap,” Rajendranagar SI Habib said. A case under section 304 A (rash and negligent driving causing death) was registered against him.
Jahnavi’s parents were planning to get their daughter admitted in the best English medium school next year.
