2 teachers held for harassing girl students

Hyderabad, June 17: Two teachers were arrested and produced before a court on Tuesday on the charges of sexually harassing two girl
students of the zilla parishad high school at Veeravasaram village in West Godavari district.

S Ahmed, station house officer of Veeravasaram, said the accused teachers were arrested following a complaint lodged by one of the victim’s father. It is learnt that the court directed the police to initiate the necessary action after a lawyer filed a petition seeking punishment to the teachers for their misconduct.

Sources said the teachers — P Sitharama Raju (59) and Ch Subrahmanyam (49) — were arrested after the students complained to their parents about the alleged harassment by them. It is learnt that the teachers also used to make improper comments and show nude pictures to the girls in the school.

In fact, the parents and elders of the village held a panchayat and admonished the teachers some time ago. When the issue came to the notice of the DEO, the teachers were transferred. But there was no further action since the teachers arrived at a compromise with the village elders.
