2 students stabbed, 1 fatally, at Chicago school

Classes have been canceled at a Chicago high school where two students were stabbed, one of them fatally.

A third student is in custody after the stabbings early Thursday that happened as students were entering AMIkids Infinity Chicago on the city’s far South Side.

The incident happened before students got to the school’s security checkpoint.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the death but no other information about the teen was immediately available.

Sherri Ulleg is a spokeswoman for the company that runs the school. She says the second victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

AMIkids Inc. contracts with Chicago Public Schools to run the campus, which serves about 20 students with behavioral and emotional needs.

Ulleg says counselors will be available for students and staff when classes resume Friday.
