Two siblings Mohd Khaja (8) and Mohd Kaleem (11) who went for swimming drowned in the Hussainsagar Lake on Monday afternoon.
According to sub inspector Ramgopalpet M. Raghuvendra Swamy the siblings hails from Punjagutta with their parents, who are daily wagers. Kaleem and Khaja, along with two other children, got into the deep water near the Necklace Road.
“As both of them did not know swimming, they drowned while their friends managed to come out safely,” said.
On being alerted by locals, the police rushed to the spot and launched a rescue mission to trace the children. However, by evening, the swimmers could only bring out their bodies. Later, the bodies were shifted to Gandhi Hospital mortuary. The police registered a case under Section 174 (suspicious death) of CrPC.
