Hyderabad, December 30: Chief Minister Kiran Reddy has left for Delhi to bring about a few changes in his ministry which means inclusion of Chiranjeevi’s erstwhile Praja Rajyam MLAs in the cabinet. He is also expected to remove some non-performing ministers and seek the removal of Textiles Minister P Shankar Rao and Transport Minister Botcha Satyanarayana.
Chiranjeevi, president of the now defunct PRP, sought three berths. The Congress has agreed for two berths and the deal was struck. Chiranjeevi is planning to let Anakapalle MLA Ganta Srinvasa Rao and MLC from Kadapa C Ramachandraiah be part of the cabinet. The actor-politician is to get a minister of state position in the Union cabinet after the current Parliament session is over. It was the support of the Chiranjeevi MLAs that made the Kiran Reddy ministry tide over the no-confidence motion.
Meanwhile, the High Command has put up a coördination committee in which chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana as well as deputy chief minister Damodar Rajanarsimha, MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, legislator K Chiranjeevi, former PCC president D Srinivas, former minority welfare minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir are included as members. Headed by Gulam Nabi Azad, the committee would oversee all policy decisions and review the performance.
The formation of the committee is seen as a move by High Command to not let Kiran Reddy take all decisions and to control dissidence in view of the upcoming bye-elections to 17 seats. Congress committee is expected to discuss the political fallout of the Discoms’ annual revenue requirement (ARR) proposals placed before the APERC which sought to raise nearly Rs 4,950 crore by way of raising power tariff to all sectors.
Meanwhile, Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has declared that he will revive the Telangana movement after the Sankranti festival.”I will prepare a new action plan at the TJAC meeting likely to be held in the first week of January. If I am keeping silent, there is reason for it and it should not be construed as abandoning the movement. The movement will continue in different forms till such time we achieve Telangana state,” he said.
