2 policemen suspended for Pak national’s escape

Jammu, August 12: Two policemen were suspended and a special police officer (SPO) was dismissed from services today in connection with the escape of a Pakistani national from Khour police station, 40 Kms from here on Monday, police said.

Taking a serious note of the incident, Superintendent of Police Mohan Lal suspended Head constables — Raj Singh, Mohmmad Zahid — and dismissed from services an ex-serviceman Uttam Singh, who was employed as SPO with the police station, they said.

A departmental probe has been ordered against the Station House officer (SHO) of Khour Police station,they said.

Mohmmad Zahid – a Pakistani national, who was arrested for illegally crossing into Jammu and Kashmir along the Line of Control (LoC) last month, escaped from the police station in the district on Monday, they said.

Police have launched a hunt to re-arrest him, police said, adding, any trace of the Pak national was yet to be found.
