New Delhi, March 12: Delhi Police today smashed two rackets allegedly involved in betting during the India-South Africa World Cup cricket match and arrested five persons, including a teenager.
The arrested have been identified as Sunil Kumar (32), Dinesh (21), Sunny (26), Suresh Kumar (48) and Pawan Kukhreja (19). Twenty three mobile phones, a TV, a laptop and an LCD were recovered from them.
The arrests came after the police received inputs about the operation of the rackets at two places — 1-Block and 6-Block in Subhash Nagar area.
“They confessed that they were running these rackets since 18.02.11. Both the accused parties have taken the parallel line of betting from a bookie Rajan who is at large.
“Better stake depends on the ups and down of the match.
