Those surrendered are Kothapalli Kamalakar alias Sudhan (26), a native of Mogilicharla in Geesukonda mandal and Kavuri Samba Laxmi alias Geetha (19), belonging to Buttaiagudem in Eturnagaram mandal. Kamalakar worked as Khammam-Karimnagar-Waranagl division committee member (KKW- DVCM) and Samba Laxmi as dalam member of Eturnagaram-Mahadevapur area committee.
According to SP Rajesh Kumar, Kamalakar and Laxmi were suffering from health problems. Kamalakar discontinued studies while in Class X. In 1998, he came in contact with Bandari Kista Swamy Shyam, the then commander of Mogilicharla mini-guerilla squad.
In 2001, he went under ground after becoming full-time member of the CPI (ML) People’s War Group. He worked as a guard to Rama Krishna alias RK, the then district committee secretary-cum-special zonal students member, for a year.
