2 killed for honour in Rajasthan

In an apparent case of honour killing, two youths were killed in Barmer district of Rajasthan, police said today.

Ghanshyam and his friend Suresh were were returning from Balotara town yesterday when they were hit by a SUV from
behind, police said.

Ajay Singh, brother of the girl, and his relatives allegedly hit the duo’s motorcycle with their SUV near Baytu
and sped away.

Both the victims died on the spot, police said.

Prima facie, it was an accident case but Ghanshyam’s father Khetaram informed police that Ajay had threatened his
son on the same day to kill him following which the accused were detained and questioned,” SP Barmer Santosh Chalke said.

He said that three accused were nabbed last night.

The culprits told police that they planned to kill Ghanshyam because he was having an affair with the sister of
Ajay for a long time and there was a dispute between the two families due over this issue, the SP said.

Relatives of the deceased got furious and tried to close markets in the Barmer city today.

They gathered in large number in the markets which prompted the police to use mild force to disperse them.

“However, there is no report of any injury in today’s incident,” the SP said.
