2 killed, five hurt in Kashmir accidents

Srinagar, March 22: Two persons, including a girl, were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents in Kashmir valley today, a police spokesman said. Bisma Majid, a class 12 student, died on the spot after being hit by a private mini-bus at Nowhatta in downtown Srinagar on her way to school, the spokesman said.

He said the driver of the mini-bus fled the scene after the accident and a hunt has been launched to nab him. However, his bus was seized by police.

Ghulam Mohammad Guru, a resident of Tral, was killed when he was hit by a truck near Awantipora, 32 km from here on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the spokesman said. He said three persons were injured when a tempo in which they were travelling, turned turtle at Ratnipora, 35 km from here in Pulwama district.

In a separate incident, a woman passenger was injured when two buses collided at Waterigam, 65 kms from here in Baramulla district, the spokesman said. A motorcyclist Ghulam Mustafa Sheikh was injured when an SUV hit him at Nunar, 25 km from here in Ganderbal district.
