2 killed as container rams into house

New Delhi, July 16: Two men were killed when a container rammed into a temple and a house in central Delhi while trying to save a motorcyclist.

Six policemen were injured as locals, enraged over the incident, pelted stones.

The incident took place at around 10:30 pm yesterday in Nehru Nagar area in Anand Parbat when the speeding container lost control while trying to save a motorcyclist and hit a temple before ramming into a house.

Three persons were injured in the incident and taken to a hospital where two of them — Subhash (30) and a woman Murti (32) — succumbed.

The driver and cleaner of the container fled from the spot, leaving the vehicle behind.

Angry residents took to streets and blocked traffic following the accident.

When police reached the spot, the protestors pelted stones at them in which at least six policemen were injured.
