Taif, October 09 : A youth died and 10 others were injured when a gunman opened fire at a private resort in the Al-Sirr area, south of Taif, in the early hours of Thursday.
He later killed another person before surrendering to the police, sources said.
A police source said the youth died in hospital soon after the shooting. He added that the gunman knew his victims and that he and his victims were involved in a physical altercation a few weeks ago.
He also said that a tribal meeting was held to settle their differences and that the gunman was not satisfied and resorted to shooting them.
All of the victims were in their 20s. After committing the crime, the killer walked out of the resort and telephoned a friend asking to meet him at a gas station close by. The man then shot his friend when he arrived, killing him instantly.
The gunman then gave himself up to police. Those injured in the shootings are currently at King Faisal Hospital; their condition is described as serious.
This is not the first such shooting in Taif. A similar incident took place in June last year during reconciliation talks held to reduce tensions over a land dispute in Al-Sail area near Taif.
Six people were left dead and 17 were injured in the shooting. Five of the dead were brothers and the sixth a son of one of the brothers.
Reconciliation talks are held between different tribes or within the same tribe to resolve disputes, often regarding land and the payment of blood money.
