Chennai, May 02: Police today arrested two people in connection with the theft of Rs 1.45 crore from the house of a businessman at Chetpet in the city.
The arrest was made within two days after the businessman, Umar, involved in leather tannery business, had lodged a complaint that Rs 1.45 crore cash was missing from his house.
In his complaint on April 30, the businessman said he had sold a property recently and had kept Rs two crore in his house.
He had gone to his native Ambur along with his family members. The keys were left with his driver and some of his employees.
When he returned home, he found Rs 1.45 crore missing and suspected the involvement of his driver and other employees as the almirah was not broken.
Kilpauk police, who registered a case, arrested his car driver Sekar and assistant driver Siva and recovered the stolen amount.
