2 fraudsters nabbed for hoodwinking ATM users

Ghaziabad: Two fraudsters were arrested from the railway station here as they used to dupe ATM users into giving up their cards which they then used to withdraw money from the victims’ accounts.

They targeted several senior citizens and those unfamiliar with using ATM machines, and on the pretext of helping them used to steal the cash, police said.

SP (City) Aakash Tomar said the two have been identified as Anil and Sandip.

They confessed during interrogation that they fooled gullible people into exchanging their ATM cards.

The accused admitted that they interchanged the cards so cleverly that nobody could notice their tactics. Police recovered many ATM cards of several banks and cash from their possession.

Both have been sent to jail under section 66 of the IT Act and sections 420, 379, 323 of IPC, Tomar said.
