2 engineers found with assets worth Rs 5 crore

Hyderabad, December 16: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths today unearthed assets worth more than Rs five crore from two engineers of Roads and Buildings (R&B) and Irrigation Department while three Government employees were caught by the ACB for taking bribe.

ACB officials today morning conducted searches on the office, residence and other properties of Ankam Rajulu, the deputy engineer-inchief of R&B department today morning. Rajulu was found in possession of a house in Hanamkonda, three flats in and around the City (at Kalyan Nagar, Khairatabad and Yellareddyguda), three open plots at Balapur, Miyapur and Kukatpally and 20 acre agricultural land at Station Ghanpur in Warangal, an official release said.

Further, the engineer owned two cars (Ford Fiesta and a Maruti), a two-wheeler, LIC policies and financial documents worth Rs 15 lakh, two kg gold, three kg silver and household articles.

Similarly, ACB officials conducted searches on the Karimnagar residence of B Satyanarayana, the superintending engineer of Irrigation and Command Area Development (I&CAD) in the construction circle of Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP), Kakatiya canal in Hanamkonda.

The assets include a three-storeyed house, total of nine open plots in Karimnagar and Peddamberpet, Shamirpet and Nizampet on the outskirts of the city and a flat at Sitaphalmandi.

“Four more flats belonging to the officer are under construction at Nizampet village,’’ the release said.

ACB officials also recovered 50 tola gold ornaments worth Rs 7.50 lakh, silver articles worth Rs 60,000, bank balance of Rs 1.40 lakh, Rs 77,000 cash, insurance premium of Rs 9.48 lakh, investments in chit funds of Rs 2.59 lakh, fixed deposits and shares of Rs 2.50 lakh, two cars and two bikes all worth Rs 11 lakh. Another Rs 2.60 lakh household articles were also found.
