The 28 hour strike called by the Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers began on February 12. Their demands include implementation of 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations and D A with basic pay etc.
Nearly 40,000 employees in the city and 1.5 lakh employees across the state stayed away from work on day one of the two-day strike while more than 30,000 employees from across the state took part in the postal department alone.
Employees from the accountant general’s office, income-tax office, civil accounts, government medical stores and the Central government health scheme, inspectors from Central excise and Customs, besides ministerial staff, were among those who took part in the strike.
