Hyderabad: A meeting of All India Muslim Majlis Mushavirat was held at Madina Education Centre. Mr. Mujtaba Farooq, National General Secretary Mushavirat presided over the meeting. It was decided that a 2-day Muslim-Dalit National Seminar will be organised on May 13 & 14, which will be attended by Muslim and Dalit leaders from across the country. A public meeting will be held on the conclusion of the seminar after Maghrib prayer on May 16.
The seminar aims at exploring ways of unity between Muslims and Dalits and bringing them closer to each other so that they both can strive together against backwardness and injustice. A committee has been formed for the seminar.
Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, Managing editor Siasat Daily is the convenor of the seminar. Prof. Vishweshwar Rao (Hyderabad University), advocate Mr. Bhaskar (Secretary BSP), Mr. Osman (Osmania University), Mr. Venkateshan, Dr. Raffath Seema (Principal Riyaz uz Salihat), Mr. Rehana Fatima, Mr. Iqbal Husain, (former president SIO, India), advocate Mrs. Khurshid Farzana, Mr. Farhan Sunbul, Mrs. Arjumand Rizvi have also been included in the committee. Mr. Obaidullah Shareef Zaki, Mrs. Nasera Khanam, Mr. Abdul Aziz, Mr. Abu Bakr Khaled and Mr. Mushtaq Malik were already in the committee.
During the meeting, Prof. Vishweshwar Rao said the seminar is the need of the hour and advocates, social activist, political leaders, retired judges and educationists should be invited in the seminar. Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan Managing Editor Siasat said even today dalits are banned from entering houses of upper class. Islam teaches us to support oppressors.
