Two police personnel attached with Kasara police station in the district were today arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials said.
“The accused – Assistant Sub-Inspector Deepak Chavan, and constable Ashok Sangle – demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh on November 17 from the complainant for not taking action in a complaint lodged against him,” Additional Superintendent of Police (ACB), Thane unit of ACB, Srinivas Ghadge said in an official release.
Following a complaint, a trap was laid this afternoon at the Kasara police station and the accused were caught while accepting the bribe amount, he said, adding following which they were arrested.
A case under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been registered and investigations are underway, police said.
