2 burglars posing as customers to target showrooms held

New Delhi: Two persons, who allegedly used to burgle showrooms of popular brands under the guise of customers have been arrested by police.

Bhola (30), a resident of Sagarpur, and Aakash (24), from Mangolpuri, were arrested and 10 high-end motorcycles, one Honda City Car, few branded bags, watches and other artciles were recovered from them, police said.

Police said they had formed a special team taking note of increasing burglaries in showrooms of popular brands. The team examined CCTV footages from various places and many suspects were interrogated.

Raids were also conducted at different hideouts of people suspected to be following similar modus-operandi in Delhi-NCR.

The police yesterday received a tip off that the two accused were coming to Dwarka in a Honda City Car for conducting recce of showrooms in the area. Police laid a trap and arrested them.

On verification, the car was found to be stolen from an area under the jurisdiction of Mukherjee Nagar police station.

Interrogation revealed that the accused used to visit showrooms posing as customers and identified the points where expensive and high-end articles are kept.

In the night, they would break in and steal the stuff.

For storing the stolen articles, they had arranged temporary “store houses” on rent in different parts of Delhi, police said. The stolen items were disposed off at throw away prices, they said.
