Hyderabad, September 25: Dejected over the delay in formation of separate Telangana state a Muslim auto driver set himself on fire in an attempt to commit suicide. The incident occurred at Balanagar on city outskirts where 45 year old Mohammad Jafer Khan alias Ghouse poured kerosene over his body and set himself ablaze however the other auto drivers and locals shifted him to the hospital. Following the incident Telangana supporters reached Venkat Ram Reddy Nagar cross road and staged protest dharna. Seeing the protest and rasta roko by Telangana supporters heavy police force reached the spot. Jafer Khan is under treatment at Gandhi hospital in severely injured condition.
In another incident which occurred at Malkajgiri an auto driver Chandu climbed onto a hoarding at a hotel with petrol tin. He demanded Malkajgiri MLA A Rajendar to resign immediately and play active role in Telangana movement. On the occasion the crowed pelted stone at the police as a result two police workers including an ASI and APSP constable got injured. Police resorted to lathi charge. Later a delegation of Joint Action Committee led by president Venkanna reached the residence of MLA however the delegation returned on the assurance of MLA to resign within two weeks. Police foiled suicide attempt of Venkanna who was resented over the promise of MLA.
