Cuttack, May 12: Excise sleuths seized around five kg of brown sugar worth Rs 5 crore in the international market and arrested two persons in this connection here today, officials said.
Acting on a tip-off, the officials raided the residence of a person named Sivaji Patel at Khan Nagar area in the city and seized 4.82 kg of the narcotics kept in two jars inside a box, Cuttack excise superintendent Barendranath Dhal said.
During interrogation, Patel revealed the name of another dealer Biswajit Dutt following which the sleuths raided his residence at Rajendra Nagar area and recovered 80 gm of brown sugar from his possession.
Both Patel and Dutt were arrested and produced before a court which remanded them to jail custody, Dhal said.
