A seven-day 19th International Children Film Festival 2015, the first in the Telangana State, will be held here from November 14 to 20, according to Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav.
In this connection, the minister, along with Information & Public Relations Director Subhash and his predecessor V Subhash Goud, launched an official website www.19icff.com for the festival and an invitation CD of songs at the Secretariat here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said it will be celebrated as State festival at the directive of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and the event will begin and conclude at Shilparamam at Madhapur for which elaborate arrangements were being made to make the event a grand success.
Apart from constituting eight committees to ensure successful conduct of the International Children Film Festival in a grand manner, an executive committee headed by Principal Secretary and I&PR commissioner BP Acharya and Shilparamam special officer Kishan Rao as vice-president has been constituted for the purpose, the minister said. Stating that efforts were on to make Hyderabad a permanent venue for the International Children Film Festival, the minister said efforts were being made to conduct the film festival not only in Hyderabad but also in all the district headquarters this time.
Stating that 1,204 entries were received and they would be forwarded to the Children Film Society of India for approval, Srinivas Yadav said only films recommended by the Society would be screened at all places. He also informed that some 450 children from all over the country and abroad and 75 film personalities would be participating in the festival.
The Mumbai-based Children Film Society of India, Union department of Information and Broadcasting and Telangana Government are jointly conducting the event. Imax Theatre will be the main platform and 13 other theatres will screen the films. Shilparamam special officer Kishan Rao also spoke. (NSS)
