1984 Sikh riot victims threaten suicide

THE survivors of the 1984 riots and families along with some Sikh organisations staged a protest at Jantar Mantar on Sunday threatening to end their lives if Congress leaders Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar and Kamal Nath were not ousted from the party and Ministries by November 19 for their alleged role in the riots.

Almost 70 survivors of the riots urged the government to take action against the accused.

The demonstration was attended by a large number of people from Sikh organisations such as the National 1984 Victim’s Justice and Welfare Society, Sikhs for Justice USA, and All India Sikh Students Federation.

President of National 1984 Victim’s Justice and Welfare Society, Babu Dukhiya Singh said: “ We are tired of the sluggish approach of the government and its machineries including the Delhi Police. If Congress needs more Sikh sacrifice, the community is ready to get beheaded once again if justice is not delivered.”
