1.92-kg ornaments stolen from bus

Hyderabad, June 20: Two employees of a Mumbai-based gold company lodged a complaint with the Afzalgunj police stating that a bag containing 1.92 kg gold ornaments was stolen from the bus during their travel to the city from Kurnool today.

The two persons, Dinesh Kumar Suthar and Jitender Kumar Mewara, are the employees of a Mumbai-based Sagar gold company that makes gold ornaments. Dinesh and Jitender, residents of MG Road in Secunderabad take orders for gold jewellery from jewellery shops in the state.

To take orders, the duo went to show the jewellery items to jewellery shop owners in Kurnool. “They took orders from various shops in the district and boarded an RTC bus to Hyderabad today. They were in possession of 1.92 kilo gold ornaments,” Afzalgunj police said. The duo stuffed the gold ornaments in a bag and kept it near their seats.

They found the bag missing near High Court a few-minutes journey from Shivarampally, where the bag was intact, police said.

The bus driver immediately stopped the vehicle and checked the entire vehicle including the other passengers but the bag could not be traced.

After the bus reached the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station, they lodged a complaint with the Afzalgunz police, who registered a theft case and investigating.

Police are also verifying the veracity of the claims of the duo.
