Hyderabad, January 05:Nineteen Bangladeshi fishermen, who had lost their way in the Bay of Bengal, were rescued by fishermen from Andhra Pradesh Thursday.
Police said the fishermen in their trawler were found near Donkuru village of Srikakulam district.
Without food and water for the past several days, the Bangladeshis were in a bad condition and all of them were admitted to a government-run hospital at Itchapuram.
The Bangladeshis told the police that a group of 33 fishermen had set out for fishing in two boats 26 days ago. They lost their way while returning to the coast and became targets of pirates, who looted food items and other belongings.
Police, quoting the fishermen, said 14 members of the group lost their lives.
Some fishermen from Visakhapatnam spotted the Bangladeshis and brought them to the coast at Donkuru village. They also informed the police.
