18KG gold seized from trio at Shamshabad Airport

The Customs officials at Rajiv International Airport at Shamshabad on Friday took three international gold smugglers into custody and recovered 18kg yellow metal from their possession.
The accused were identified as Mruganandan, Zainuddin Mohammedullah Haji Mohammed of Singapore. The trio was illegally trying to transport the precious metal from Singapore. They alighted from Tiger airplane belonging to Thai Airlines and landed here.
The Customs officials recovered six kilogram gold from each of them and seized their passports. The gold is valued at Rs 5.4 crore. The accused were hiding the gold biscuits in trousers and shoes. Besides, foreign currency of Rs 2.70 lakh was also seized from them. (NSS)
