18000 acre Waqf land has been identified in Andhra Pradesh which is under government possession. Minority Welfare Department and Andhra Pradesh Waqf Board have begun steps to restore the land.
Commissioner Minority Welfare Special Officer Waqf Board Shaikh Mohammed Iqbal convened a review meeting with high officials. He sought details of Waqf lands on district level. According to primary survey over 18000 acre is under the possession of various government institutions. He said that after the completion of survey letters will be sent to the government and would be asked to return the land to Waqf Board. He said as per law no government institutions can occupy Waqf land if the government takes serious steps the land can be restored by Waqf Board.
In the first phase 6 properties have been identified which is likely to fetch Rs. 400 Cr revenue.
