(Siasat News)Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education has allowed nearly 170 colleges, with below par facilities and infrastructure in the on-going EAMCET counseling on the promise made by the managements of these colleges. They ensured that they would rectify the deficiencies within three months.
The officials did not disclose the names of their colleges fearing that students would not opt for the colleges during counseling.
Parents said that the government instead of revealing the names of “unfit colleges“ and reducing their fees, the officials is keeping the names secret and even hiked the fees from RS.31, 000 to Rs.35, 000. Parents are also tensed about if they get seat in these “unfit“ colleges during counseling.
JNTU teams revealed that 70 colleges under JNTU-Hyderabad, 60 colleges under JNTU Kakinada and 40 colleges under JNTU-Anantapur failed satisfy the AICTE norms.
As per norms, colleges without university affiliation should not be included in the counseling. Even the universities withheld the renewal of affiliation to these colleges but in the last minute got bonanza from the government.
Meanwhile Electronics and Computer Engineering (ECE) stream was at the top of the preference table on the Day-1 of the EAMCET engineering web-based counseling whereas there were no takers for Information Technology stream. After ECE, students preferred to opt for Mechanical, Computer Science, Civil Engineering stream. The IT stream, the most-preferred course during the IT boom, was at the bottom of the preference table this time.
As the Govt. is all set to release G.O. for the management quota, Managements of engineering colleges are eagerly awaiting to start online admissions for management quota as announced by the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Thursday.
However some colleges are planning to approach the AP High Court immediately after the GO is issued.
