Hajj is a holy pilgrimage and Muslims aspire to go to Hajj to purify themselves from sins. But this Sacred institution has also been commercialized by some unscrupulous persons who use fair or foul means to benefit from the Hajj subsidy scheme provided by the government of India.
According to minister for minorities welfare and Hajj Azam Khan 170 fake names have been detected in the list of Uttar Pradesh Hajj pilgrims this year. It is believed that travel agencies in connivance with the persons who were deputed for registration might have included the names in the list.
A probe is said to have been ordered into the matter. This year 29,288 aspirants have been selected for Hajj pilgrimage.
