17 women injured as cab hits tree

Ambala, June 27: Seventeen women, travelling in a maxi cab to mourn the death of a relative, were injured when the cab rammed into a tree on Sadhaur-Doosarka road leading to Chandigarh-Delhi highway. The accident took place when the driver lost control in an effort to save a cyclist who had suddenly appeared on the road.

One of the victims, Phoolvati, sustained multiple injuries and was referred to the PGI Chandigarh, while the rest of the injured women were rushed to the nearby hospitals.

The maxi cab was hired by the victim women from Ganauli village to reach Kambasi village to condole the death of a relative. The cab was badly damaged and the driver escaped after accident.

Police registered a case against the cab driver for negligent driving.
