Hyderabad, July 20: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Minorities Welfare Mohammed Ahmadullah announced the selection of 17 Khadimul-Hujjaj (Haj Volunteers) belonging to various State Government Departments through draw of lots after their interviews at the Haj House here today.
Three more will be drawn from Andhra Pradesh State Wakf Board and Andhra Pradesh State Haj Committee.
The Khadimul-Hujjuj are appointed on the ratio of 300:1. In view of this ratio for 6027 Haj pilgrims 20 Khadimul-Hujjaj will be deputed this year. Out of the 17 Khadimul-Hujjaj selected today five Khadimul-Hujjaj belongs to Telangana region, while four each were picked up from Rayalseema, Andhra regions and the twin cities of Hyderabd and Secunderabd. One candidate each from all the three regions and twin cities were also selected through draw of lots.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ahmadullah said the Haj Committee would provide all the necessary help and assistance to the Haj pilgrims.
The Khadimul-Hujjaj, drawn from the Government departments, are to be selected for deputation in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia to serve and guide the Haj pilgrims from the state during Haj 2010.
The Minister advised the selected Khadimul-Hujjaj to work sincerely and report the problems faced by the pilgrims in KSA to the Haj Mission authorities and the Andhra Pradesh State Haj Committee officials. There had been complaints of the negligence and lethargy on part of the Khadimul-Hujjaj in the past but the Government was deputing the Khadmul-Hujjaj with the hope that they would render useful services to the pilgrims.
The arrangements were made under the supervision of Mr Habeebuddin, Executive Officer, Andhra Pradesh State Haj Committee.
