169 Residential Schools started in Telangana yesterday

Hyderabad: CM of Telangana State, Mr. KCR congratulated the officials for starting 169 residential schools yesterday. 71 more residential schools would be started next week. CM told that a plan was prepared for starting 255 Govt. residential schools. Yesterday 169 schools have been started. Govt. has prepared a strategy for providing free education to SC, ST, BC and Minority students.

The officials of the school have done a wonderful job by starting 169 schools on 12th June. CM advised the students to make the lives of Dr. Ambedkar and Jyothi Rao Phule as their role models. He further said that he is pleased that residential schools have been started to fulfill the promise made in the election manifesto.

It may be mentioned that before the formation of separate Telangana State, 259 residential schools were started for SCs, STs, BCs and Minorities. Within a short span of 3 years, Govt. of Telangana started 527 new residential schools. With this enhancement, the number of residential schools has reached 786. In order to popularize education among girls, half of these schools have been reserved for girls.

It is reported that Rs. 1.25 lakh is the expenditure estimated for each student in these schools wherein free education, boarding and lodging, supply of uniform and text books is available. Poor students are being given opportunities to get higher education free. In order to make the career of poor students brighter, TRS Govt. is starting residential English medium schools on a large scale.

CM also told that so far, 169 schools have been started and next week 71 more such schools would be started. Out of 169 schools, 119 are for BCs and 50 for Minorities. 50 more residential schools would be started on 15th June and 21 schools on 19th June will also be started. In addition to these schools, 15 women’s degree colleges will also be started. With this the number of residential educational institution would reach 255 this year.

There was facility of residential schools for Minorities before the formation of Telangana. With the establishment of 121 minorities residential schools, the total number of minorities’ residential schools would be 204.
